Rick Santorum calls President Obama a "snob" for wanting all students to attend college. President Obama never suggested all students need to attend Harvard like he did. He reiterated this today at the White House:
The jobs of the future are increasingly going to those with more than a high school degree and I have to make a point here. When I speak about higher education we're not just talking about a four year degree. We're talking about somebody going to a community college and getting trained and, for that manufacturing job that now is requiring somebody walking through the door handling a million dollar piece of equipment. And they cant go in there unless they've got some basic training beyond what they received in high school.
But that reiteration didn't stop Alice Stewart, Santorum's press secretary, from defending her boss's comments.

I must be living in mizarro America or something, because every president in recent history has said that a college education should be for eveyone that wants one, suddenly the first black pres runs for re-election and the Republicans, all of whome have COLLEGE DEGREES,say its the President being a SNOB?...REALLY..Wearing a sweater vest is more snobbish...Rick Santorum is the American Taliban..think Im wrong..Women are to be subserviant, one religion is correct, thos who dont agree 100% are the enemy...
You don't believe colleges and universities liberalize you? Take a look at your panel...It is to Santorum's enormous credit, that he survived getting a higher education and kept his integrity and his faith...credit is also due to his upbringing, our beloved Church and possibly whatever Catholic schools he might have attended...please remember also, that it is a lot easier for you guys today, than for Rick, when he went to college...worse, even, for those like me who had to attend Manhattan School of Music in the late sixties, right across the street from rioting Columbia University students....
These are bizarro twisted arguments. I have been to college, you read books and learn as much or as little as you want, you listen or don't listen to the teachers perspective; it is all up to you ie., free will!!. You act like he paid some kind of ultimate sacrifice to attend college, what a bunch of hogwash. PS all of his frigging kids are going to college as well. What next, having a home or driving a car is elitist??
Glad you guys touched on it, but would like to see MUCH more time spent on the issue of gun control. The NRA is at the front of the line in regard to your topic of Class Warfare ... those with money and power in DC get to make decisions for the rest of us. Instead, NOW spent about half the show on whether Santorum should have called President Obama a snob. Who cares? Priorities, please. Keep up the good work, Alex and NOW. Thanks.
Mr. Santorum is infuriating me more and more every day... Hypocrisy, intolerence, arrogance and lies... But I still hope he gets the nomination so that Americans can say NO to his 19th century vision of your country. I am very surprised that he keeps campaining on controversial issues - Isn't there anyone close to him that can point out how ill advised this strategy is? Can't he see that he is making himself totally unelectable for the Presidency? If not, that is one more reason to vote for President Obama.
Rick Santorum won't stop until he destroys America as we know it. The separation of Church and State makes him puke. Getting an education is mere indoctrination. Outlaw birth control. And while we're at it, let's start another costly war in the Middle East.
