For a week now, President Obama's campaign has been warning its donors that the Romney campaign pulled in more than $100 million dollars last month. Today the Governor's campaign confirmed that, announcing it raised $106.1M in June in conjunction with the Republican National Committee. The vast majority of that money came from big checks -- while just $22.3M, or 21%, came from donations of $250 or less.
President Obama's campaign also released its June totals today, reporting its best fundraising month so far this cycle: $71M raised jointly with the Democratic National Committee. Obama campaign COO Ann Marie Habershaw expressed mixed emotions in the press release: "Bravo. That's seriously impressive. Bad news? We still got beat. Handily."
This is the second straight month Team Romney has won the monthly fundraising race, besting Team Obama $70.6M to $60M in May. The impact of this trend is ominous for the President's campaign, and was spelled out in the title of today's campaign email to supporters: "We could lose if this continues."
