The first presidential debate may be almost a week behind us, but it's still in the news today - aided in large part by a host of new polls that suggest Governor Mitt Romney has made significant headway in the race for President.
The most notable poll showing a boost for Governor Romney is a national survey of likely voters from the Pew Research Center, which puts the Governor ahead of President Obama 49-45 (margin of error ± 3.4%). Meanwhile, the Gallup daily tracking poll puts President Obama ahead by five points, 50-45 (margin of error ± 4%). That's the same spread three days before the debate, before the tracking poll was 47-47 three days after the debate.
Another reason why last week's debate remains a story: a new TV ad out from the Obama campaign this morning. The spot pounces on Governor Romney's stance on the taxpayer subsidy to PBS, the TV home of Big Bird. And no, folks, this ad is not an SNL spoof.

I personaly think that 400 million or even 4 million is a lot of money. I also think that the test that Mitt said it would have to pass is a good test. Do we need to borrow 400 million From china to keep it. Is it that important to america to borrow that much money. Now according to you 400 million is nothing however I think that is a lot of money. Personaly the stituation in Libya and the terroist attacks that Obamas adminstration said were attacks from an angry mob is more impoertant.
Do we need to borrow 400 million from China??? Time to read up on your subject here if you want to remain a high rolla... four hundred million is a spit in the ocean.
The largest foreign holder of U.S. debt is China, which owns more about $1.2 trillion in bills, notes and bonds, according to the Treasury. In total, China owns about 8 percent of publicly held U.S. debt.
Foreign governments hold about 46 percent of all U.S. debt held by the public, more than $4.5 trillion.
Thats is the point exactly 400 million shouldnt be a spit in the ocean.
I am amazed how complicated the DC press can make something - Big Bird is PERFECT for exposing the crazy nature of Romney's claims. Obama is not what we expected - he is disappointing BUT Romney, the supposed big business expert is going to solve our economic issues with 0.00013% cuts in spending and cut the most beloved, last bastion of non-corporate BS left on the airways? OF COURSE it is important. You need to get out more. Ayn Rand and the Simpson Bowles plan are NOT going to shift people. You guys are cool only in your own tight group. It reminds me of a bunch of college Juniors trying to out-do each other at a bar while discussing Spinoza.
Thats the point Im making 400 million is a ton of money. Doesnt matter if its .0000000001% its alot of money. We seem to be living in lala land when we think 400 million is a spit in the ocean.
The Democrats don't need to talk about Romney and Big Bird...
They just need to GIVE Romney the Bird...
It wouldn't hurt if MSNBC spent a little more time on NBC showing Romney in clips like they already have... "Dateline" would be a good start..."MSNBC in Primetime" ...primetime is where it would count most.
These are in addition to over thirty websites that have articles about Romney lying, and show the actual content of how he changed the truth to fit his needs... some even show he later changed the same content again in front of a different audience.
Obama's ad people simply don't take enough advantage of the available possibilities right in front of them... they almost border on incompetent. Ther is "killer" info out there that Romney himself supplies... just sitting there, and it is given no national exposure.
I don't think people are seeing the big picture. Romney is ok with giving billions of dollars in tax breaks to big coorporations, but wants to cut funding to programs that help the american people. There are many families that can't afford preschool for their kids, so Sesame Street is there to fill in the educational gap, to teach kids. THe people of this country are becoming dumber and dumber. Its soooo important to invest in kids and their future, the return is far greater than giving tax breaks to people that dont need them. Romney and his friends send their kids to the best private schools, they dont need to worry about these things, most of the country does. He thinks that the only people worth investing in are the ones born with a silver spoon in their mouths.
